Geographically Clonleason Gate Lodge is surrounded by the great archaeological sites of the Boyne Valley – Newgrange, Loughcrew and Tara. Trim with its concentration of historical monuments has a popular Boyne River walk, and Kells, world famous for the illuminated manuscript The Book of Kells has some pretty Georgian houses. Slane Castle is a favourite with guests for the Whiskey Distillery Tour.
Clonleason is an easy drive to Dublin on the N3 and beautiful Wicklow for Powerscourt and Mount Usher gardens. A little to the north the inquisitive traveller will find much to enjoy in the local museum in Ballyjamesduff where an engaging replica of the First World War trench can be experienced.
